My Bare Feet

I like carpets.

I like the way its frays crawls up between my toes.

I stand more firmly and I’m more in control.

I hate the cold bathroom tiles that cracks my bare feet open

..but when it comes to that

I am prepared with my blue velvet slippers.

But wrapped feet are weak.

It reminds me of the time when I was little and naive

the way the sand disappeared underneath my beach slippers

Swallowed my slippers whole

I like my bare feet
